very straightforward

plus nine is, well, just a weblog. It doesn't have a strict agenda, so it's sort of in flux.

plus nine also is two people:

Hi, I'm Peter Bihr. I live and work in Berlin, Germany. As a freelancer, I do different kinds of stuff - Sometimes I write, sometimes I consult on online communication, sometimes I blog, and quite often it's random stuff in between. (Only once I had the chance to beta-test computer games, thus fulfilling the early childhood dream of getting paid to play computer games. Alas, it didn't last.) Occasionally, I can be found sipping Latte Macchiatos in nice cafés around the neighborhood. (Which needs to be said, as it's such a nice cliché.)

My co-writer, the person behind the pseudonym Plasma, is a software developer & ubergeek. He is still trying to get his Development Abstraction Layer, so far without success. ;-)

It should come as no surprise that "Basic Instinct 2," the long-gestating follow-up to Paul Verhoeven's 1992 blip on the zeitgeist screen, is a disaster of the highest or perhaps lowest order. It is also no surprise that this joyless calculation, which was directed by Michael Caton-Jones and possesses neither the first film's sleek wit nor its madness, is such a prime object lesson in the degradation that can face Hollywood actresses, especially those over 40. Acting always involves a degree of self-abasement, but just watching trash like this is degrading.

Now, surprise, surprise! Anyway, that's what I really like about New York Times movie reviews. They're just in-your-face. Also, NYT has another excellent newsletter I can only recommend: Circuit, an excellent tech newsletter, which regularly comes with a top story written by the great David Pogue. They just got it right!

This is great: Berkeley put some of their classes online as podcasts or video casts. With MIT Open Courseware, MIT has a similar program online as well. This is great, I wish more universities offered their classes on the web.

World Press Photos.

  • uh uh yeah: digg + slashdot + del.icio.us = diggdot.us
  • the great warning label generator
  • flickrmap draws a flash-map based on the location info in flickr (for $5 per year, and i'm not sure if it's based on tags or EXIF data. sounds like fun, though.)
  • not checked out yet, but seems to be worth reading: why do people carry mobile phones?
all these links coming in via die romantische komoedie - thx gell!

The goal is to kick ass.
ludicorp is where i wanna go. Uh yeah.

You could always tell who the villainesses were because the narrator made a point of noting that they had fat asses. It was as good a way as any to shorthand the world, he thought.

cory doctorow, someone comes to town, someone leaves town (free download, good stuff.)

uh uh yeah: malls of america, ein photoblog über, na was wohl, malls in amerika (untertitel: Vintage photos of lost Shopping Malls of the '60s & '70s). ganz große bilder, und the 60s will last forever.
