Eventually I tested Google Page Creator, a little tool to simply produce websites, on the fly, for free. When I read David Pogue's NYT column (you need a registration, but it's free) on page creator, it sounded overly enthusiastic:

Page Creator is so amazingly simple, I had already completed my first sample page before I even discovered that it has a Help screen.
Also, personally I don't exactly need an online website creator. But usually, Pogue can be trusted when it comes to testing tech, so... Time to give it a try.

What can I say? It's true. It's by far the best online editor I've ever come across. (Doesn't match a Dreamweaver in terms of features, of course. But it doesn't match Dreamweaver in complexity, either, and it doesn't cost $399 (€555 in Germany!), either.)

That said, this is some serious editor: Extremely simple to use, like drag&drop images and nice & simple formatting. And it's absolutely free. Not ad-supported, but totally free. Hosting included. This is really good stuff! Bye-bye, cheap online webhosters. You've just been voted out.

If you have any interest whatsoever in getting some private or other small website and don't wanna call your friend's sister's nerd boyfriend, go check it out. This is the tool for you.

(Sign-up is still via waiting list, but they're pretty fast in serving the demand.)
